Justin, Northstar Resort Bike Team manager and team athlete received the call up by USA Cycling to semi-pro status for 2007 after winning the Nevada Cup Mountain Bike Series and finishing 5th overall in the National Mountain Bike Series in expert men 19-29. He will be racing the National Mountain Bike Series, The Sea Otter Classic, and the National Championships in Mount Snow, Vermont. Swett also races for Smith Optics, Six Six One, Michelin Tires, and the Tahoe Forest Sports and Performance Center.

It wasn’t but two years ago when the Maine native Justin Swett packed up his old rusted bottom Saab and drove cross country from the rural rolling hills, jagged coast line, and lobster famous state of Maine. Swett moved nine months after graduating from the University of Maine in confusion to explore the western country and get back into competitive cycling to rekindle the lost drive he once had.  “Cycling developed who I am today…and I owe that to my family.  I got into the sport with the help of my grandparents who gave me five hundred dollars to start a college fund but I used it to buy a mountain bike!  And at the time, being young and always living in the present it seemed to be a better investment."

While Justin attended the University of Maine he received his Bachelor Science degree in marketing and was involved in the universities cycling club. Swett has been a cycling enthusiast for all his life dating back into his bmx days and raced competitively for most of them. “I was very fortunate to grow up in Maine, the mountain bike program was solid and I got to grow up in the race seen with Giant Bicycle’s Adam Craig, one of the top ranked mountain bikers in the world."
