Horseback Riding
Your Ride. Your Way.
Northstar Stables are the only stables in the Reno/Tahoe area offering only private horseback rides for beginners, families and nature enthusiasts. Embark upon a private horseback ride on serene trails located in gentle hills thick with pine forest, offering views of the High Sierra peaks.
Our horses are gentle enough for even the most timid and inexperienced riders, and our rides are always catered to your needs and led by an expert guide. For more advanced riders, we have responsive, well-trained horses. Children must be 10 years old to participate in trail rides.

The Northstar Stables will be open daily June 15 through September 5 (Labor Day).

These small group (1, 2 or 3 riders per guide) Horseback Trail Rides offer the opportunity to ride side-by-side with friends or at a faster pace for those with advanced skills, without the long, dusty lines.

| 1 hour gorgeous morning trail ride, followed by a delicious breakfast, cowboy style. Breakfast ride menus include juice, coffee, fresh fruit, pancakes and sausage. 24-hour advanced reservations required. | |
| Dinner Rides (minimum 6 guests) | $90 |
Begins at 5:00 p.m. with a 1 hour trail ride followed by a hearty dinner. Menu includes tri-tip, tequila chicken, salad, bread, cookies, soda and cowboy coffee. 24-hour advanced reservations required.

Parents lead your child on our special pony trail. Available daily from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

| 3-hour camps from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. daily Tuesdays through Saturdays. | $40 |
Camp starts with a tour of the stables followed by instructions on how to pet/brush a pony, lead it, and put the saddle on. Children will take turns being led on the pony trail as well as participate in little nature walks. Children will get a chance to unsaddle the ponies and help feed them. There will be an instructor for every 3 - 4 children. Reservations must be made 24 hours in advance. Please arrive no later than 12:45 p.m. Children will need long pants, closed shoes, sunscreen, a jacket and a snack and they should be fairly fit, able to be active all afternoon with a snack break. | |
