Learn from the Pros and learn to love the game of golf! Northstar California’s Head Professional Pete Smith has more than 30 years of teaching experience. He and his team of teaching professionals are ready to help golfers of all ages and abilities improve their game and lower their score.

If you are new to the game, mastering the fundamentals will help you enjoy your time on the course. For experienced golfers, a lesson can help fix that frustrating slice, improve your putting or gain another 20 yards on your drive.

Junior golf schools are available from June 20, 2011 through August 2011. Classes will develop players' full swing and short game skills as well as focus on rules, etiquette, and on-course play. Reservations required. Space is limited. Sign up in the pro shop or call 530.562.3290.

Clinics are available starting June 12 through August 2011. Group lessons last approximately 45 minutes and are on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations not required.

NEW Personalized Golf School

Northstar's NEW personalized golf learning programs, ranging from 2 - 5 hours per day, are created based on the golfer's experience - from the brand new to the seasoned golfer. Classes may include club fitting, full swing, short game, rules, etiquette, on course play and more. Multi-day programs are available. Please call 530.562.3290 for pricing and more information.

Golf Instructors

Pete Smith, Head Pro

Pete has been a very successful golf teacher in Truckee/Tahoe for the last 20 years. With more than 30 years teaching experience, working at the Olympic Club, Kapalua and many years at Tahoe Donner, Pete brings a wealth of golf knowledge to his students. He has won Player of the Year honors in the Sierra Nevada PGA 4 times. Pete is available for private lessons on a limited basis.

Stoffi Spora, Teaching Professional

Stoffi is a highly regarded golf teacher, player, and a professional ski instructor here at Northstar. Stoffi hales from Austria. He is the 2006 Ski & Golf World Champion, and a 2nd team All American golfer at Ferris State College. Last season Stoffi shot a course record 63 at Northstar. His experience and dedication to teaching golf is second to none.

Casey Logan, Assistant Pro

Casey has shown his teaching skills, golf knowledge and enthusiasm during his first 2 seasons at Northstar. Casey is from Bishop, where he teaches golf during the winter months. His teaching and playing abilities are very strong, and he loves to help his students enjoy and improve their golf game.
