I am very excited to have been hired as the Alpine Head Coach of the Northstar Ski and Snowboard Team. I come to Northstar Resort with 15 years of ski teaching and coaching experience ranging from first time beginners to coaching FIS level athletes. I competed as a member of the Sugar Bowl Ski Team from 1968-1979 in both USSA and FIS competitions. I attended UC Davis, where I competed on their ski team in 1980 and 1981 and continued my college ski race career at CSU Chico where I raced in 1984 and 1985. I am a USSCA National Level coach as well as a PSIA Level 2 Instructor. I am looking forward to working with both the great staff of the Ski and Snowboard Team, and all of the athletes and their families, to help them reach all of their goals. Keep working hard! |

I’m coming from the cool city in Slovakia surrounded by beautiful mountains. At the age of 5 I joined the local race team. I raced for 15 years and reached international level. After I retired from racing I started my ski teaching and coaching career in Europe, Australia and USA. In the seasons 1995/96 and 1996/97 I guided blind skier Stefan Kopcik - member Slovakian National Paralympics Team - to place second over all in the Europa cup for the disabled. In 2001, I got my CSCF level 2 and came to Northstar Resort to be a part of the Ski School and Race team. To be honest: I’m having too much fun!!! Little something from Slovak racing dictionary: “Pluhom k vitazstvu ! = Snowplow to Victory!” |

A native Californian, Chris grew up ski racing at Badger Pass in Yosemite National Park. After attending two years at Fresno State University, Chris moved to Mammoth to pursue a “ski bum” lifestyle. Chris is currently one year from finishing his bachelor’s degree in ski area management at Sierra Nevada College. Chris is also working for a new ski company called Ninthward. |
