How much of an advanced deposit will I need to make prior to my wedding?
The full amount of the Wedding Package is required to secure the date and is due upon booking your wedding. We will bill you for the food and beverage after the Wedding.
Does a Sunday night stay count as a weekend or midweek?
Friday and Saturday nights are considered weekend, Sunday – Thursday rates are considered midweek.
Where is the complimentary lodging room for the bride and groom located?
You can request any Northstar Resort double occupancy unit such as a Village Room, Village Loft, or 1 bedroom condo outside of the Village.
How do my guests receive the group rates for lodging?
We will setup a lodging “shell” that guarantees the rate. Guests will need to call the front desk at (800) Go-North (800-466-6784) and let the reservation agent know they are with your wedding party. They will need to make a deposit to book accommodations. Luxury condo units, custom homes and the Hyatt Northstar Lodge are also available by calling the front desk and referring to the wedding party, but a group discount does not apply.
Which lodging units do we receive group rates on?
Your guests can receive group rates on Northstar Resort managed lodging units. This includes Village Rooms & Lofts located in the Village, as well as surrounding condos located within one mile of the village. All lodging units are accessible to the Village using the free on-site transportation.
How soon can our guests make reservations at the group rate?
Once the contract is finalized, your lodging shell will be set up and guests can begin making their reservations.
Are there any dog-friendly lodging units available at Northstar Resort?
No, dogs are not permitted in the lodging units at Northstar Resort. If the bride and groom want to bring their dog because he/she is part of the wedding, we can make special concessions such as an additional cleaning fee.
Can the hotel staff help us pass out welcome packets or gift baskets for our guests if they are staying in Northstar Resort lodging?
Yes, the front desk staff will be able to hand out welcome packets or gift baskets to your guests as they check-in.
Is there a minimum number of nights a guest needs to stay in order to receive the group discount?
Your group needs to book a minimum of 5 units for 2 nights in order for the group discount to apply.
Describe the complimentary on-site transportation that is mentioned in the wedding package.
Northstar Resort offers complimentary on-site transportation between all lodging units and the Village at Northstar or the NPOA Recreation Center. Shuttles are available from approximatley 10:00 am until 10:00 pm, for most of the year. Guests will need to request a shuttle to pick them up at their lodging units (the phone number is available in each unit). Shuttles frequent the Village area to take guests back to their units.
What upgrades are available for my event?
We can rent most anything necessary for your event including additional heaters, furniture or place settings at an additional cost. Most upgrades are rented through Event Masters in Truckee. Feel free to browse their website: http://www.EventMastersUSA.com
Is there a cost for the dance floor or is it included?
While Northstar Resort does not own a dance floor, there is plenty of room for dancing at your reception. We can assist you in renting one or feel free to rent one yourself. Dance floor pricing is as follows:
Is the wedding cake part of the package or is it additional?
Northstar Resort can help you design a dessert station or you can hire a bakery if you prefer a wedding cake. Your Northstar Resort coordinator can refer you to a local bakery.
Can I request a list of preferred vendors?
We recommend referring to the North Lake Tahoe Wedding and Honeymoon Association at www.NorthTahoeWeddings.com .
My Wedding is outdoors, what if there is inclement weather?
If your wedding is at the Overlook Pavilion, there are walls with windows and glass doors that can be installed with a little bit of notice. We can include up to four patio heaters and rent additional ones as necessary (at an additional cost). If weather is really bad, we have the Lodge at Big Springs, Copper Lane, TC's Pub and the Aspen Room (based on availability) as back ups.
Are there additional charges if we want to do the ceremony on the mountain?
There is a $5 charge per gondola rider to access the mountain and normal operating hours for the gondola are until 7:00 pm on Friday, 5:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday. The mountain would be open to hikers and mountain bikers during these times. If you would want your wedding guests to be up on the mountain after the Mountain Bike Park closes, the gondola can be rented for $500 per hour.
Are dogs allowed in the Village for the ceremony/wedding?
Yes, dogs are welcome in the Village at Northstar. They need to be kept on a leash, in control and any messes created need to be cleaned up by the dog's owner.
Is there a ceremony arbor that comes with the package?
Northstar Resort does not own an arbor, but we can assist you in selecting one for rent. Prices start at approximatley $50.
If we pick a food package that does not include a vegetarian option how do we go about feeding vegetarian guests?
Buffets all have vegetarian options. We will make a special accommodation for plated meals, such as Sage and Squash Risotto Cakes. We will need to know a count for the plated vegetarian options in advance.
When passed appetizers are included in a package, how many pieces are included per person?
For buffet menus that include passed appetizers, we will prepare enough to have seven pieces per guest.
Are individual menus printed by Northstar Resort for our guests, or do we have to print them?
Menus located at each place setting are optional and will need to be prepared by you.
Can we make subsitutions in the menus? If we prefer a different entree with a certain menu, can we make that change?
Yes, that is fine. We always work with the couple to customize the menu as they wish. For example, if you have selected the Napa Buffet dinner but preferred the Chicken entree offered with the Sonoma Buffet dinner over the Napa Salmon we would be happy to make that accommodation. Some substitutions may require an increase in price.
What is the pricing for kid’s meals?
We can offer children aged 12 and under a plated meal for $15 (plus tax, tip and resort fee). An example of kids plated dinners might be a grilled cheese sandwich with French fries or chicken strips served with French fries.
My vendors require that I include them for the meal. What are my options?
Typically, it is best to go with a boxed dinner for your vendors so they can eat on the go and choose when to eat. Check out the "Boxed Deli" or the "Boxed Gourmet" in your banquet menus for two popular vendor menus.
The wedding package includes "2 hours of bar service". Please explain.
The two hours of bar service is strictly for the bartender service, it does not include alcohol. Additional bar service is $50 per hour for the bartender to be available.
What is the cost of a champagne toast, or is that included in the package?
The toast is not included in the package. One champagne bottle has six full glasses and you usually toast with a half glass, you can count on 12 toast glasses per bottle. Please refer to our wedding banquet menu to see our current champagne offerings, or you can bring your own with a $20 corkage fee per bottle.
We want to have an After-Party, what are our options?
Mikuni's Japanese Restaurant & Sushi, Baxter's Bistro & Lounge and the Chocolate Bar all host after-parties from 10:00 pm until 2:00 am for approximatley a $500 rental fee. Any food and beverage would be extra.
