At Vail Resorts, safety is our number one priority and we’re always exploring ways to support this effort. We recognize many of our ski and ride positions require a high level of athletic ability and overall fitness to be performed effectively and safely for both our employees and our guests.
For the 2011/2012 ski and snowboard season, we’re implementing a new fitness assessment program. Designed to ensure that our on-mountain employees are physically fit and capable of doing their jobs, the Fit to Ride Program requires all applicants and returning employees in the categories of ski and ride school, ski patrol and mountain safety to pass a Fitness Certification. Applicants working in those positions for the first time must also complete a Functional Movement Screen and a Medical Evaluation before being placed in a position. Vail Resorts will provide reasonable accommodations whenever necessary to enable otherwise qualified individuals with disabilities to participate in and/or complete the Fit to Ride program, provided reasonable accommodations do not pose an undue hardship on the company.
