Spring it On with Northstar™ Resort’s Action-Packed Event Calendar
TRUCKEE, Calif. — While next Monday might mark the first day of spring, skiers and riders would never know it judging by Northstar Resort’s incredible mid-winter ski conditions. Though there is 11 feet of fresh powder on the ground, the mood is definitely spring. With college deals, festivals and live music pumping through the Village, Northstar is Lake Tahoe’s complete Spring Break headquarters.
Forum Youngblood Series Stop— Mark 18, 2006
Snowboarders who think they have what it takes to go pro can put their skills to the test in the Forum Youngblood Series. Winners will head to Northstar’s sister resort, Sierra-at-Tahoe for a chance to duke it out with some of the world’s best for a spot on the Forum Youngblood snowboard team. March-tober Festival—March 19,2006
Prost! Thanks to Northstar’s crazy Octoberfest celebration, everyone has an excuse to break out the lederhosen and raise their beer steins in March. Join the festivities and enjoy traditional German music, dancing from the Alpentanzer Schuhplattler group, an ice skating performance and of course, Gordon Biersch keg tapping. Event is free and will take place from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Village.
Nordic Wine Tour— March 19, 2006
Where can guests combine working out with wine tasting? None other than Northstar Resort’s Nordic Wine Tour that blends a six kilometer cross country ski route with snacks and wine sampling. The tour will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and costs $35 per person. Equipment not included. For reservations, call (530) 562-2475.
College Weeks—March 20-24 & April 10-14
Spring break will kick off with College Weeks at both Sierra and Northstar. College students can purchase a $41 lift ticket to Sierra and Northstar Resorts when they present a current college identification card.
Freeride Sessions—March 18-19 & 25-26
Northstar-at-Tahoe’s freeride sessions for teens ages 13-16 teach participants to master jibs, jumps, halfpipes and more. Each session is taught in a casual format, allowing teens to ski/ride with their peers with an instructor to guide them along the way. Cost is $102 per day and includes lift ticket, all-day instructor guided session and lunch. USASA National Championships—March 25-31
The United States Amateur Snowboard Association (USASA) will host the 17th Annual USASA National Championship at Northstar-at-Tahoe. This highly recognized event will bring more than 1,300 athletes and their families and friends to the North Lake Tahoe region for a week of competition and daily festivities. In addition to special events, Northstar Resort is offering a variety of après ski opportunities from free ice skating to live music each weekend on the Village Center stage.
