NORTHSTAR-AT-TAHOE
CONTRIBUTES OVER $46,000 IN CHARITABLE DONATIONS THIS WINTER SEASON


TRUCKEE, Calif.—Northstar-at-Tahoe has found numerous ways to share the generosity of resort guests and employees this season. Through various fund-raising efforts, Northstar™ Resort, and some of the resort’s partners, have donated a grand total of $46,791 to charitable causes.

Ski for Education—Northstar Resort hosted Ski for Education day Sunday, Jan. 8 to benefit Excellence in Education, a local education-based foundation that provides grants, resources and partnerships to benefit local students and teachers. All 1,000 donated tickets were sold at Porter’s Ski and Snowboard shops for the discounted rate of $20 and the resort was able to donate $20,000 to the local non-profit organization.

Project MANA’s Food Bank —In the weeks leading up to the holidays, Northstar Resort employees raised $2,500 used to purchase food for the Project MANA (Making Adequate Nutrition Accessible) food bank. Project MANA is the hunger relief organization serving the North and West Shores of Lake Tahoe and Truckee. The organization responds to the emergency needs of the homeless, the elderly, the homebound, families in need, children and single parents.

Sawmill 15K Cross-Country Race—Cross-country skiers raced 15 kilometers on Northstar’s Cross-Country Ski and Snowshoe trails, Sunday, Jan. 22 raising $2,200 for the Far West Nordic ski programs. These programs help keep locals involved in cross-country skiing through races, camps, events, newsletters and more.

U.S. Ski Team Day—Helping garner excitement and support for this year’s U.S. Ski Team athletes, Northstar Resort joined 75 other resorts to host the inaugural U.S. Ski Team Day on Friday, Feb. 10. This event raised $2,091 which was donated to the U.S. Ski Team.

Tahoe Women’s Services Ski Day— Skiers and snowboarders supported Tahoe Women’s Services Ski Day held Sunday, March 12 at Northstar-at-Tahoe. Tahoe Women’s Services sold out of the 1,000 lift tickets donated by the resort, raising over $20,000 for the non-profit agency. The resort also donated a 2006-2007 Double Whammy® Season Pass as part of the raffle also contributing to funds raised. Tahoe Women’s Services provides delivery of emergency food and shelter, counseling, legal assistance and advocacy to women and families in need.
