Popular North Lake Tahoe Mountain Bike and Hike Park to Host High Profile Bike Events, Offer Lesson Programs and More
Northstar-at-Tahoe™ Resort Scheduled to Open for Season in Early June

TRUCKEE, Calif. – April 13, 2011 – Gearing up for a summer season chock full of downhill and cross-country mountain bike events, Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort is also ready to resume instruction programs designed to introduce those new to downhill mountain biking to the sport when it opens for the summer season on June 10, 2011, weather and conditions permitting. Building on the success of last year’s Learn to Bike Academy, this summer, Northstar® Resort will again offer its popular Ride 101, Bumps & Bends and private lesson programs.

“The introduction of the Learn to Bike Academy last summer offered those getting into the sport a less intimidating way to get started with proper technique when downhill or cross-country mountain biking,” said Andy Buckley, Director of Resort Skier Services at Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort. “We look forward to continuing to welcome new enthusiasts to the sport with these lesson programs, as well as introductory packages like the early afternoon package offered last summer that included a lesson, afternoon lift ticket and bike rental.”

Further, plans are set to improve the learning terrain for this year’s operating season including modifications to Easy Rider (a beginner family trail) and the Big Easy learning area that will offer helpful progressions for riders who want to learn to corner and jump.

PRO & AM EVENTS RETURN
This summer, Northstar Resort’s popular downhill and cross-country race series events will return, and new professional and other signature events will also be featured, including:

--Amgen Tour of California, Stage 1 Finish – May 15
--Pro Gravity Tour – June 18-19 (conditions permitting)
--Lake Tahoe Trail 100k (Leadville 100 Qualifier) – July 10
--Giant for Women Clinic & Demo – July 15-17
--Tara Llanes Classic – September 24-25

“We are excited to serve as host to some high caliber biking events this summer including the Stage 1 finish of the Amgen Tour of California, the Pro Gravity Tour and the Lake Tahoe Trail 100k. It’s these larger events that help put all of the incredible biking in the Tahoe area on the map for cyclists looking for great places to get out and ride,” said Buckley.

The resort’s Downhill Mountain Bike Race Series will kick off July 10 with the first of six events, and the Thursday night Cross-Country Race Series will begin July 7 with the first of eight races in the series. For the complete summer event schedule, visit www.NorthstarAtTahoe.com.
