NEW TAHOE STAR TOURS EVENT INCORPORATES LIVE DANCE PERFORMANCE INTO SUMMER LINE UP

Recent Addition Combines Dance, Music and Science for Unique Viewing Opportunity

TRUCKEE, Calif. – July 27, 2010 – Tahoe Star Tours announced today that two additional event dates – the first of which includes a live dance performance – have been added to its summer event line up at Northstar-at-Tahoe™ Resort. The Bellē Contemporary Dance Company, under the direction of Cari Cunningham and composed by Ty Williams, will come together with Tahoe Star Tours to celebrate the Milky Way Galaxy in a special performance on Friday, August 6 at 9 p.m. An additional Tahoe Star Tours event has also been added to the schedule on Sunday, August 8.

The Friday evening event will combine dance, poetry and science during a 60 minute performance, followed by telescopic observation. Led by star guide and poet Tony Berendsen, president of the Northern Nevada Science Coalition, Tahoe Star Tours offer a unique experience featuring a breathtaking view into the heavens. Hosted at Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort for the eighth season, Tahoe Star Tours is the premiere star tours experience in Lake Tahoe and an educational evening for guests of all ages.

“Tahoe Star Tours was already a very unique star gazing experience, and new this season, we’ve begun to partner theme based performances with star gazing,” said Berendsen. “People coming to Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort in the summer to participate in our star gazing tours now have the opportunity to experience a very special performance by the Bellē Contemporary Dance Company that was choreographed specifically for Tahoe Star Tours.”

Every tour is as different as the sky above, but all include a poetry reading, a fun space quiz with prizes, a laser tour of the stars and constellations, and a telescopic viewing with equipment provided by Celestron, the world’s leading telescope maker. Tours are highly interactive and allow guests to have a hands-on experience at amateur astronomy.

Tahoe Star Tours typically take place from 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. and meet at the top of the Highlands Gondola at the Ritz-Carlton Destination Club. From there, guests are escorted to the viewing location on the deck of the Big Springs Day Lodge, located mid-mountain at Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort. Proper walking footwear is recommended.
