NORTHSTAR-AT-TAHOE™ RESORT ANNOUNCES UPCOMING WINTER JOB FAIRS,
LOCAL HOUSING ASSISTANCE
Resort Seeks Passionate Candidates Interested in Seasonal Winter Recreation Employment

TRUCKEE, Calif. – Sept. 13, 2010 – As the winter season approaches, Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort is beginning its search for service-oriented, professional employees to fill a variety of seasonal positions for the upcoming winter. The resort, recently named a “Best Employer” finalist in the 2010 Best Of Truckee/North Tahoe contest hosted by the Sierra Sun and the North Lake Tahoe Bonanza, has scheduled two on-site job fairs, and will hire for positions including the Northstar Resort Ski & Snowboard School, Race Department, Lift Operations, Food & Beverage, Rentals, Demos, Resort Activities & Sales, Retail and more. Upcoming job fairs include:

 

Ski & Snowboard Instructor & Race Team/Services Hiring Fair – October 9
Hosted in the Village at Northstar on Saturday, October 9, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., this hiring fair is designed for applicants interested in working for Northstar Resort’s Race and/or Ski & Snowboard School. Skiing and non-skiing positions will include full-time, part-time and holiday/on-call shifts.

Due to last year’s success, the Northstar Resort Ski & Snowboard School will again offer training opportunities including dry-land, pre-season training for ski and snowboard instructor candidates. This training includes aerobic and anaerobic conditioning, functional movement screen analysis and corrective exercise, and PSIA and AASI pre-certification prep and clinics. Training dates include six weekends from October 16 – November 21, 2010 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The cost is $99 per participant, and lunch is not included. Resort Hiring Fair – November 6
Taking place in the Village at Northstar on Saturday, November 6, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., the resort hiring fair will cater to applicants interested in a variety of resort positions including Lift Operations, Food & Beverage, Rental Services, Snowmaking, Retail, Security, Parking, Village Grounds, Overnight Storage, Ice Rink Attendant, Ski &Snowboard School, Resort Services & Sales, Volunteer Mountain Safety Hosts and Transportation. Positions will include full-time, part-time and holiday/on-call shifts. The ability to ski or snowboard is not required for all available jobs.

 

Northstar Resort is committed to providing a welcoming environment for its employees and resort guests, and offers opportunities for applicants with varying backgrounds and experience levels. The resort continues to encourage employees to improve their skills in areas including social responsibility, guest service training, and will continue to provide career growth opportunities and assistance for employees in need of local housing.

Benefits of working at Northstar Resort can include a season pass, access to affordable housing, discounts on food, beverage and retail items at the resort, complimentary lift tickets for friends and family, access to ski and snowboard lessons and more. On-site housing is available through Polarstar Properties, and the resort is again encouraging local homeowners to join its Rental Rewards program in an effort to help provide employees with affordable housing. Interested area homeowners who have a room or house available for rent are invited to complete a form with Northstar Resort’s Human Resource Department indicating the space available. The resort will connect local landlords with resort employees and should a lease be signed, will provide the landlord with a non-transferable value season pass (not valid Saturdays or holidays).
