Northstar-at-Tahoe™ Resort to Extend Winter Season

Resort Surpasses 500 Inches of Snow This Season, Now Scheduled to Remain Open Until April 24, 2011

TRUCKEE, Calif. – March 17, 2011 – In celebration of the resort’s biggest winter in 25 years, more than 500 inches of snowfall for the season and more in the forecast, Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort near Lake Tahoe, Calif. announced today it will extend its closing date and remain open through April 24, 2011.

“We’ve had record setting snowfall since the season started, and have surpassed our season average of 350 inches by almost 150 percent,” said Bill Rock, chief operating officer at Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort. “With these incredible snow conditions and more snow in the forecast, we’ve decided to extend the season to allow our guests more time to get out on the mountain and enjoy it.”

With base depths of more than 14 feet at the top of the mountain, and more than 7 feet at mid-mountain, spring skiing and riding conditions at Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort are the best they’ve been in years. And, according to the National Weather Service, more snow is in the forecast this weekend, with the potential for up to a couple of feet, and snow expected to continue through next week.

As the spring season gets underway, Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort will also host a variety of events including Oakley Progression Sessions March 26 and 27 for ladies interested in advancing their skiing and snowboarding skills. These sessions will offer the unique experience of coaching under professional athletes including Gretchen Bleiler, Marie-France Roy, Silvia Mittermuller and more.

Other spring events scheduled include the Red Bull Butter Cup on March 26, and the resort’s annual Spring It On! festivities on April 2 which will feature a pond skim contest, 80’s dress up day, infinity box terrain park contest, live music and other activities.

Those looking to save on the slopes this spring are invited to pick up a complimentary voucher at participating partner shops in the Bay Area, Sacramento and Reno and bring it to the resort to purchase a $61 all day lift ticket.

Guests are encouraged to book their Stay & Ski Free getaway to Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort for just $115 per person, per night (based on double occupancy in a studio condominium). This offer includes two lift tickets per room, per night. Some restrictions apply. For more information or reservations, visit www.NorthstarAtTahoe.com or call 1.800.GO.NORTH.
