SUMMER GETS INTO FULL SWING AT NORTHSTAR® RESORT
Affordable Summer Entertainment Begins June 25

 

TRUCKEE, Calif. – June 15, 2009 – The summer season officially gets underway June 25 at Northstar Resort with the start of the resort’s weekly and signature events in the Village at Northstar™. Featuring live music, complimentary outdoor movie nights, roller skating, weekly dining and drink specials and more, the Village at Northstar is North Lake Tahoe’s summer destination for affordable entertainment.

 

Bohemian Cabaret ensemble Vagabond Opera, described by the Washington Post as “a band of ceaseless charisma, boundless energy, impeccable musicianship and more than a little touch of both the naughty and exotic,” will kick off Northstar Resort’s summer music schedule with a lively, performance on Friday, June 26 that is open to all ages at no charge. The group delivers passionate offerings of Bohemian cabaret with a band featuring trained operatic tenor and soprano vocals, accordion, tenor saxophone, cello, stand-up bass and drums.

 

And, in an effort to help raise funds for adaptive sports, Northstar Resort is teaming with the Active Force Foundation in a fundraising event taking place the weekend of June 25. Visitors are invited to mix and mingle with NFL players and action sports heroes at a buffet dinner and cocktail party Friday, June 26 at Baxter’s Bistro & Lounge in the Village at Northstar. Tickets are $50 in advance or $60 at the door and can be purchased online at www.NorthstarAtTahoe.com. Attendees also have access to the VIP area for the Vagabond Opera show.

• Live music on the Village Stage featuring Vagabond Opera from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
• Big Wheels & Little Balls fundraiser event at Baxter’s Bistro & Lounge from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
• Complimentary outdoor movie featuring “Field of Dreams”
• Tahoe Star Tours – “The crescent moon meets Virgo”

 

Saturday, June 27
• Cooking Class at Baxter’s Bistro & Lounge from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. – Stocks, Soups and Sauces
• Big Wheels & Little Balls 4 Wheel Downhill Bike Demo from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at mid-mountain
• Live music on the Village Stage featuring the Jeff Jones Duo from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
• Village at Northstar Wine Walk featuring Souverain Winery and 10 tasting stations throughout the Village at Northstar from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
• Complimentary outdoor movie featuring “Wizard of Oz”
• Tahoe Star Tours – “The crescent moon meets Virgo”

 

Sunday, June 28
• Live music on the Village Stage featuring the Mark Sexton Band from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

 

Roller skating on Northstar Resort’s 9,000 square foot skating rink is offered daily from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Complimentary outdoor movie nights take place Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights and start 15 minutes after sunset, chairs are provided, and the Cabana Bars are open.

 

TGI Thursdays kick-off on Thursday, June 25 for the summer season and feature dining specials at restaurants throughout the Village at Northstar. Dining guests enjoy discounts such as three rolls for $30 at Mikuni Japanese Restaurant & Sushi Bar, three courses for $30 at Baxter’s Bistro & Lounge, $3 fish tacos at Big Wave Burritos & Wraps and more.

 

Village at Northstar Wine Walks pair wine tasting with a leisurely stroll through the shops in the Village at Northstar and take place the last Saturday of the month throughout the summer. Wine Walks are open to ages 21+ with valid ID, and tickets can be purchased online at www.NorthstarAtTahoe.com or at the Tickets & Season Pass office in the Village at Northstar. The $20 ticket includes a commemorative glass, tasting at 10 locations and light appetizers.

 

Guests are invited to experience the starry sky above Northstar Resort this summer at a series of Tahoe Star Tours led by Tony Berendsen, the President of the Nevada Science Coalition. Every tour is as different as the starry skies above and will include a poem, a fun space quiz with prizes, a laser tour of the stars and constellations and a telescopic viewing. Complimentary valet parking is offered Thursday through Saturday nights with a minimum $10 dining validation from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. for guests shopping and dining in the Village at Northstar. Additionally, complimentary 2 hour parking is offered daily, conveniently located just steps from the Village at Northstar.
