LABOR DAY DOESN’T SIGNIFY THE END OF SUMMER, BUT BEGINNING OF AN EVENT-FILLED FALL SEASON AT NORTHSTAR-AT-TAHOE™ RESORT
Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort to Host 24th Annual Lake Tahoe Autumn Food & Wine Festival, Endurance Events, Fundraisers and More

TRUCKEE, Calif. – Aug. 24, 2009 – This fall Northstar® Resort plays host to a variety of events designed to engage, entertain and enliven guests both on the mountain and in the Village at Northstar™. From annual favorites among locals and visitors alike such as the iconic Lake Tahoe Autumn Food & Wine Festival to the Big Blue Adventure Race Series, there are events and activities to satisfy visitors of all ages and interests. Guests are invited to plan their vacations or weekend getaways around these events, or simply visit for the day and experience what Northstar Resort has to offer.

Upcoming events at Northstar Resort this fall include:

Labor Day Street Fair & Sidewalk Sale – Sept. 5-7
Celebrate the last “official” weekend of summer with live music and entertainment, shopping specials and other fun at the Village at Northstar’s annual Labor Day Street Fair and Sidewalk Sale-a-bration!

Lake Tahoe Autumn Food & Wine Festival & Tahoe Plein Air – Sept. 11-13
An annual weekend of food and wine, the Lake Tahoe Autumn Food & Wine Festival also features cooking seminars, a grape stomp, celebrity chefs, culinary demonstrations, wine tasting and a live wine auction that culminates with the Sunday Grand Tasting and Culinary Competition. A feast for the senses, this festival has been a staple in the region for more than 20 years. New this year, it will also partner with the Tahoe Plein Air art event, featuring the work of artists who’ve been selected to paint in various locations throughout the Truckee-Tahoe area.

Northstar Tennis Open – Sept. 11-13
Lake Tahoe’s largest tennis tournament, the annual Northstar Resort Open, is open to tennis players of all ability levels. Event categories include singles, doubles, open singles, open doubles, mixed doubles, and century doubles (any combination of players adding up to 100 years-of-age). The cost to participate is $30 for singles, $40 per team (doubles) and $34 to $50 (team) in open class divisions. For more information, call 530.562.0321 or visit www.northstartennis.com.

Super D Mountain Bike Race – Sept. 19
New this fall to Northstar Resort is the Super D Mountain Bike race featuring a downhill course designed to test riders’ endurance and bike handling skills. The event begins promptly at 5 p.m. at either the top of the Tahoe Zephyr or Vista Express Chair lifts with courses finishing in the Village at Northstar. Register in person prior to the race from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Tickets & Season Pass Office or pre-register in advance by calling 1.800.GO.NORTH or by registering online.

Big Blue Adventure Race Series – Sept. 19
This Adventure Race series includes kayaking on Lake Tahoe, mountain biking, orienteering, and orienteering through the Tahoe Mountains. The Sprint Race is two to four hours and the Adventure Race is between six and 12 hours. The race begins and ends at the Village at Northstar with courses working their way though Lake Tahoe, Tahoe Forest and Northstar Resort. To register for the event, visit www.bigblueadventure.com.

Luxury Home Tour – Sept. 19
Excellence in Education Foundation in partnership with the Tahoe Sierra Board of Realtors is providing the opportunity to preview eight of the region's most magnificent homes. The Luxury Home Tour runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Northstar Resort. Tickets are $30 per person in advance, $35 at the door, group discounts are available. Tickets are available at Dickson Realty, Sheridan Northstar R.E., Tahoe Mountain Resorts R.E. in the Village at Northstar and at www.ExinEd.org. All Tour proceeds benefit the Tahoe Truckee Excellence in Education Foundation.

Tahoe LUNA Chixs Breast Cancer Fundraiser – Sept. 20
The Tahoe LUNA Chixs will host “Party In the Village to Cure Breast Cancer” from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. featuring delicious food and drinks as well as roller-skating to the sounds of live music. Tickets are $35 per person and include one drink, food & a goody bag full of surprises. Family passes are available. Tickets are available online at www.active.com. All proceeds benefit the Breast Cancer Fund.

In addition to its signature events, Northstar Resort will continue its popular weekly Thank God It’s Thursday dining specials. TGI Thursday features dining specials at participating restaurants in the Village at Northstar through Oct. 8. Complimentary valet parking also is available from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. And, the final Tahoe Star Tours of the season will be held Sept. 11 and 12 for those interested in touring the starry sky above Northstar Resort with the President of the Nevada Science Coalition. Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for children ages 12 and under, and can be purchased online or by calling 1.800.GO.NORTH (466.6784).

Lodging discounts are available for guests visiting during the Lake Tahoe Autumn Food & Wine Festival, Northstar Tennis Open and the Big Blue Adventure Race. Additionally, Stay & Play lodging specials begin at $75 per person, per night and are available through Oct. 18, 2009.
