New Passholder Benefits Offered; Prices to Increase October 1

 

TRUCKEE and SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Sept. 8, 2009 – The September 30 deadline is approaching for Lake Tahoe’s best season pass deal, and with an El Niño winter predicted, skiers and snowboarders are not going to want to be left out in the cold. Northstar-at-Tahoe™ and Sierra-at-Tahoe® Resorts have sweetened the deal on season passes for the coming winter by adding passholder perks to a growing list of benefits for Lake Tahoe’s best value – the Double Whammy season pass.

 

New this season, 2009-2010 Double Whammy Value passholders can take advantage of select Saturdays at Northstar® Resort in addition to every single Saturday at Sierra™ Resort. Also new this season, online purchasers will receive a $10 food & beverage card.

 

All Double Whammy passes will be valid for complimentary intermediate/advanced group lessons at Northstar Resort (Mon-Fri excluding blackout dates) as well as a Friday afternoon guided exploration of Huckleberry Canyon at Sierra Resort (conditions permitting).

 

All Double Whammy passholders can also take advantage of a 10 percent discount on retail purchases (restrictions apply) at both Sierra and Northstar Resorts.

The only dual mountain pass that enables skiers and snowboarders to experience both the North shore and the South shore of Lake Tahoe, the Double Whammy season pass offers access to 5,000 acres of terrain, 137 trails, 31 lifts, two Superpipes including South Shore’s only Superpipe, some of the most innovative terrain parks in the country, snowshoe trails at both resorts - plus 40 km of cross-country trails at Northstar Resort.

 

Skiers and riders can choose from seven categories of pass value to suit their habit. Prices quoted are valid through September 30, 2009.

 

The Value Season Pass, perfect for the price-conscious, is valid at Northstar Resort Sunday through Friday plus Saturdays from November 21 through December 19, 2009 and March 20 through April 11, 2010 and Sierra Resort any day, excluding blackout dates at both resorts (18 blackout days at Northstar Resort and 10 blackout days at Sierra Resort). The pass is available to adults ages 23-69 for just $359.

 

The Limited Season Pass is a great option for families. Valid at Northstar Resort any day, excluding 10 blackout dates and valid at Sierra Resort any day with no restrictions, this pass is $459 for adults ages 23-69 or $259 for young adults ages 13-22.

 

Groups of 10 or more can also purchase the Limited Season Pass at the special rate of $399 each, and the organizer receives a complimentary pass! We’ll even add the Vertical Plus frequent skier/rider membership program to a group pass for just $80. The deadline to purchase group season passes is October 31, 2009.

 

The College Season Pass lets students save their money for après ski fun. Valid at Northstar Resort any day, excluding 10 blackout dates and at Sierra Resort any day with no restrictions, this pass is just $259 for college students ages 17-69. Students must present a valid college photo ID and proof of a minimum of 6 class credits for the Fall 2009 semester/quarter.

 

The Unlimited Season Pass is valid at both Northstar Resort and Sierra Resort any day with absolutely no restrictions. At $699 for adults ages 23-69, $399 for young adults ages 13-22, $109 for Super Seniors ages 70+ and for children ages 5-12, this pass is for avid skiers and riders who are on the snow all season long.

 

The new Adaptive Pass is available this season for skiers and snowboarders requiring adaptive equipment or adaptive ski techniques in order to ski, is legally hearing impaired or blind, or has an amputation or other physical condition or cognitive disability. This pass is $99 for adults ages 19+ or $75 for youths age 5-18 and is valid at both resorts.

 

Continuing to offer loyal Sierra skiers and riders one of the best deals in Tahoe, the $199 Sierra Resort ONLY Season Pass is valid Sunday through Friday, excluding blackout dates and is available to adults ages 23-69 for just $199. The perfect pass for Highway 50 locals, the $199 Sierra Pass is like a ticket to powder days all winter long.

 

Passholders can add Vertical Plus™ to any pass for only $99. The Vertical Plus frequent skier/rider program allows snowsporters to accumulate feet for each day they ski or ride. Members earn great awards, receive discounts, enjoy members’ only lift lines and more!

 

Double Whammy passholder benefits are bigger than just great value up front. Below are just some of the perks.

 

• Treat family and friends to winter fun! Bring one guest per day on any day the pass is valid and receive $10 off an adult all-day lift ticket (ages 23-69) or $5 off a young adult all day ticket (ages 13-22), excluding blackout dates. Passholder must present pass with guest at ticket window. One discounted all-day lift ticket per passholder, applicable on day of visit only. Friends discount is not valid, regardless of pass type, on holiday blackout dates.
• Afternoon rates on all-day lift ticket purchases during blackout dates when your pass is not valid.
• An exclusive opportunity to purchase the Double Whammy Food & Beverage discount card for savings at both resorts. Food & Beverage cards come in a variety of denominations from $25 - $150.  Pay $25 and receive $30 in food and beverage value, valid at resort operated food and beverage locations at both Northstar and Sierra Resorts.
