SUMMER EVENTS, ACTIVITIES KICK OFF AT NORTHSTAR® RESORT WITH MEMORIAL DAY WINE, WHEELS AND DEALS WEEKEND
Bike Park Opening, Ride Giant Demo Day and Village at Northstar™ Activities Round Out Weekend
TRUCKEE, Calif. – May 13, 2008 – Summer is a beautiful time of year in North Lake Tahoe and the season officially kicks off Memorial Day weekend at Northstar Resort with events and activities for the whole family. The fun starts Friday, May 23 with the resort’s annual Memorial Day Sidewalk Sale and the opening of the popular mountain bike park. Giant Bicycles will be at the resort to host a Ride Giant Demo Day where guests are invited to take Giant’s mountain or road bikes for a spin – just bring a valid driver’s license, bike helmet and your own pedals if you don’t want to use platform pedals. A variety of other events are on tap for the weekend including wine tasting, live music, BBQs, drink specials, roller skating and more.
Guests looking for great end-of-season deals on ski and snowboard equipment, apparel and other items will enjoy deep discounts offered by retail stores in the Village at Northstar Friday, May 23 through Monday, May 26. The village will be alive with entertainment over the weekend featuring live music, drink specials at the Cabana Bar, a tasty BBQ and other activities.
Wine connoisseurs will enjoy the weekend wine sale at True North and a Wine Walk through the Village at Northstar from 3-6 p.m. on Saturday, May 24 featuring Charles Krug wines. The cost for the Wine Walk is $20 per person and includes a commemorative wine glass. Saturday evening continues with an artist reception at Ethos Gallery featuring the abstract photography of local artist Brian Seppa from 5:30-8 p.m. And, on Sunday, May 25, Grapes + Grounds will offer a complimentary Ferrari Carano wine tasting from 3-5 p.m.
Those interested in expending some energy will have a variety of options open to them including 18-hole play on Northstar Resort’s par-72 golf course beginning May 24, roller skating on the resort’s 9,000 square foot skating rink, free scenic chairlift rides for sightseeing and hiking, and access to the resort’s mountain bike park, which will be open Friday through Monday of Memorial Day weekend from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Following the Memorial Day weekend, the bike park and scenic chairlift rides will be open on Saturdays and Sundays until June 20 when it will open for daily operations through September 1, and Saturday-Sunday until October 5. Daily operating hours will be 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. on Friday, and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday-Sunday.
