NORTHSTAR® AND SIERRA™ RESORT ATHLETES TOP THE CHARTS GOING INTO WINTER DEW TOUR FINALS

The Final Winter Dew Tour Contest Kicks Off This Weekend at Northstar-at-Tahoe™ Resort

TRUCKEE and SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Feb. 18, 2009 – As the best athletes in the snow industry descend on Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort for the Winter Dew Tour finals this weekend, the spotlight is on Northstar® and Sierra™ Resort’s team athletes, who are poised to dominate the podiums throughout the competition. Here’s a rundown of who to keep an eye on.

Jamie Anderson, a South Lake Tahoe and Sierra Resort native, is currently the top female snowboarder in the world, as ranked by the Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour. Over the summer, Jamie finished in first place in both Slopestyle and Halfpipe at the Burton New Zealand Open and took first and third in Slopestyle and Halfpipe, respectively, at the Burton Australian Open. She is currently in second place in the Winter Dew Tour for slopestyle and was recently ranked as the Top Female Snowboarder of the Year by both TransWorld SNOWboarding and Snowboarder Magazine.

Hannah Teter, a Sierra-at-Tahoe athlete, is the reigning Olympic Gold Medalist in Women’s Halfpipe and is also currently on the U.S. Olympic Halfpipe Team. Hannah took first place in Halfpipe at the Burton Australian Open and fourth place in the Slopestyle event. Hannah took third place in Halfpipe at the ESPN Winter X Games 2009, first place at the recent U.S. Grand Prix, and is currently in second place in the Winter Dew Tour.

Elijah Teter, sponsored by Sierra-at-Tahoe and known as trick innovator in the competitive snowboard world, stood on the podium of the U.S. Grand Prix series twice last season and posted 3 Top 10 finishes in the World Cup. He took fourth place in Halfpipe at the ESPN Winter X Games 2009 and is currently sitting in fifth place in the Winter Dew Tour. 

Truckee local and Northstar Resort professional team athlete Andy Finch is traveling with the premieres of Nations Foundation’s new movie ONEYEAR. Andy is competing in all three stops of the Winter Dew Tour.

Chas Guldemond placed fourth in Slopestyle at the ESPN Winter X Games 2009, and second in the Nissan X Trail Jam Quarterpipe Event. Guldemond is currently in second in the Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour and first in the Global Open Tour. He is competing in both the Slopestyle and Superpipe events at the Winter Dew Tour.

Elena Hight is one of the nation’s top female riders, a South Lake Tahoe local and the first female to join the Northstar Resort Professional Snowboard Team. Hight was the youngest female snowboarder to compete in the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Turino, Italy at age 16, where she placed sixth in Halfpipe. She continues to be a top competitor in Halfpipe competitions, and is currently in fourth place in the Winter Dew Tour in the Superpipe contest.

Bev Vuilleumier, an up-and-comer and one of Northstar Resort’s Amateur Team riders is currently tied for fourth place in the Women’s Snowboard Slopestyle contest in the Winter Dew Tour. She took third at the Breckenridge stop of the tour and was nominated TransWorld SNOWboarding’s Rookie of the Year 2008.
