BURTON SNOWBOARD ACADEMY, WINTER DEW TOUR AND PROGRESSIVE NEW TERRAIN FEATURES TO DEBUT THIS WINTER AT NORTHSTAR-AT-TAHOE™ RESORT

Resort Demonstrates Strong Commitment to the Progression of Snowboarding and Quality of the Learning Experience

TRUCKEE, Calif. – Nov. 10, 2008 – This winter, Northstar Resort will increase its support of the progression of snowboarding as it welcomes new learning programs in conjunction with Burton Snowboards, hosts the final stop of the inaugural Winter Dew Tour, and introduces new terrain and features in its award-winning terrain parks, which were recently ranked third in the country by readers of Transworld Snowboarding.

BURTON SNOWBOARD ACADEMY ENCOURAGES PROGRESSIVE RIDING
In partnership with Burton Snowboards, Northstar Resort will introduce the Burton Snowboard Academy in December 2008 – a first-of-its-kind learning program designed to welcome new riders to the sport, encourage the progression of those already in the sport, and provide a customized experience built around an entirely new terrain-based teaching methodology.

At Northstar, the Burton Snowboard Academy will operate out of a new mid-mountain facility dedicated specifically to Burton participants. Students ages 13+ will be invited to participate in full day, limited class size or private lessons, and academy courses will include everything from getting set-up with rental equipment, to beginning the lesson with coaches specifically trained to implement the terrain-based teaching style Burton and Northstar Resort are developing together.

More advanced participants in the Burton Snowboard Academy may also have opportunities in the future to participate in special sessions with Burton athletes. For more information about the Burton Snowboard Academy, visit www.burtonsnowboardacademy.com.

WINTER DEW TOUR STOPS AT NORTHSTAR RESORT
Northstar Resort was selected to host the third and final stop for the inaugural season of the Winter Dew Tour , Feb. 19-22, 2009. The Winter Dew Tour will feature freeskiing and snowboarding disciplines for both men and women, and will be televised on NBC with competitors vying for a $1.5 million prize purse. The men’s disciplines will include slopestyle and superpipe snowboarding as well as slopestyle and superpipe skiing. The women’s disciplines will include slopestyle and superpipe snowboarding and slopestyle and superpipe skiing exhibitions. Additional details for spectators will be available at the start of the season.

Northstar Resort pro team rider, Jussi Oksanen said, "Hosting the Dew Tour is a perfect fit for Northstar with the awesome brand new village and restaurants. And, the terrain is ideal for an event like this as they already have their parks dialed. Plus, you get the experience of the very qualified park crew who's been involved with tons of shoots and contests. They know how it all works."

NEW FEATURES, IMPROVEMENTS RAISE THE BAR
This winter, Northstar Resort will continue to raise the bar when it comes to its terrain park design and feature offering. The Stash, a unique run that opened two seasons ago and was developed by Jake Burton and Burton team riders, will again introduce new features including a Yeti Arch and improved glade riding. One of only two resort runs of its kind in North America, The Stash at Northstar lets riders progress their all-mountain freestyle skills in a fun, natural environment loaded with tree runs, jibs and road jumps constructed with wood logs and other materials native to the Lake Tahoe region.

And, Northstar Resort’s terrain park crew will work with Burton to develop the Lil’ Stash, a spin-off of the resort’s already successful larger version, that will cater to younger riders and those new to the sport, and feature smaller versions of features found in The Stash that are designed to help riders improve their skills. For more information about The Stash, visit www.thestash.com.

The resort also continues to work collaboratively with Snow Park Technologies and companies that were chosen as resort partners to develop new, unique features that will find their place in Northstar Resort’s terrain parks during the season. This year, skiers and riders will experience one-of-a-kind features developed with sponsors such as Red Bull.

In addition to these new developments, Northstar Resort will also continue to host popular events including the Burton AM Open Series, January 9-11, 2009, the Transworld TransAm, March 14, 2009, USASA slopestyle and halfpipe events, as well as women’s snowboard camps.
