TRUCKEE, Calif. – June 29, 2007 – Visitors to the North Lake Tahoe area interested in sightseeing and hiking now have complimentary access to Northstar Resort’s on-mountain hiking trails and beautiful vistas. Northstar Resort’s new hiking park is now open with free gondola and scenic chairlift rides all summer long. Guests are invited to explore the outdoors and start their next hiking adventure at Northstar Resort, or just enjoy a scenic ride up and down the three operating lifts.
With the addition of the Tahoe Zephyr Express, Northstar Resort provides greater access than ever before for hikers looking for terrain to explore. This summer, the resort features a new beginner loop starting at the top of the Tahoe Zephyr Express. The Sawmill Reservation Trail located at mid-mountain and the Tahoe trail, located at the top of the Vista Express are new intermediate trails, and a new beginner/intermediate loop starting at the top of the Vista Express and concluding at the top of the Tahoe Zephyr Express provide new options for hikers of varying abilities. Leashed dogs are also welcome.
In addition to the variety of trails located on the mountain, guests visiting the resort can also take advantage of the Tompkins Memorial Trails. This trail system not only runs through the resort, but connects in to trails that travel through the Martis Valley.
And, for those looking for longer hikes, Northstar Resort can be used as a jumping off point for the popular Tahoe Rim Trail. From easy to strenuous, Lake Tahoe boasts some of the best hikes. Hikers will be rewarded with beautiful scenery, occasional glimpses of wildlife, and trails suited to every taste and ability.
