NORTHSTAR-AT-TAHOE™ RESORT MOUNTAIN BIKE PARK NOW OPEN

Bike Park Gives Riders Access to New Features, Trails and Technical Riding Terrain

TRUCKEE, Calif. – June 29, 2007 – Northstar™ Resort’s mountain bike park opened today for the 2007 summer season offering two full new trails, five new trail segments, skills development areas and increased lift access with the addition of the Tahoe Zephyr Express. With more than 100 miles of trails, Northstar Resort’s bike park is the largest in Northern California and is sure to please even the most technical of riders.

“This year, for the first time, Northstar Resort has a full-time, dedicated trail crew on staff that is responsible for building and maintaining the trails and features in the bike park,” said Kyle Crezee, Northstar Resort’s mountain bike park manager. “Our team has been working hard to develop new trails and freestyle features for the park so we can offer riders even more challenging terrain.”

This season’s new trails and trail segments include:

Coaster – A new intermediate trail that runs top to bottom off of the Tahoe Zephyr Express lift, Coaster consists of fire road sections that connect smooth single track. The trail slowly winds its way down the Northwest Territory of the mountain.

Gypsy – This new expert trail consists of manicured berms, tabletop jumps, step downs, rock drops and log rides that create a smooth flow and run top to bottom. This trail also uses a few of the log features near the bottom that are part of The Stash. Access to Gypsy starts down the Coaster trail off the top of the Tahoe Zephyr Express.

Playground – A short, sweet expert trail, the Playground was built for riders who love to catch some air. The Playground is unique to Northstar Resort in that it splits into two lines that ride side-by-side each other. One line has a row of tabletop jumps while the other boasts a series of doubles. To find the Playground, head toward Crossover just off the top of the Vista Express lift.

Big Trees & Little Trees – These expert trails literally make riders feel like they’re on a roller coaster. With never ending rollers that give you a weightless feeling every few seconds, Big Trees and Little Trees serve as host to Northstar Resort’s longest log ride and the new 120-foot Boardwalk feature that takes riders over a gnarly rock garden. Find these trails off the top of the Vista Express lift.

Over Under – This expert trail contains the only feature of its kind at Northstar Resort. True to its name, this trail features a planed log that goes over the top of the main trail. Over Under starts and ends on the upper section of Flameout, just off the top of the Vista Express lift.

Overpass – This intermediate trail replaces a section of the Crossover trail that required riders to descend and immediately climb another hill. Overpass provides riders with the option of a flat single track vs. a hilly fire road.

In addition to these trails, the resort’s trail crew recently received permits and began work on LiveWire, Northstar Resort’s first signature trail. Once complete, the trail will be almost two miles long with a vertical drop of over 1100 feet. Boasting more than 25 tabletop jumps and large berm turns, as well as an irrigation system from top to bottom, LiveWire’s surface will be fast, smooth and tacky, giving riders superior traction without the dust.

“We are excited about the progress we’ve already made with LiveWire – it is already promising to be one of the best bike trails in the world,” said Crezee. “We are pleased to be able to have the top 20 percent of the trail open to riders on opening day, and look forward to having more of it open in the coming weeks.”

Northstar Resort’s mountain bike park is open daily, weather and conditions permitting, through September 3 and Friday-Sunday until October 7. Operating hours are 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday-Sunday and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Thursday.

Helmets are required for all riders, and can be rented along with bikes and other equipment at the resort. Daily lift tickets are required for lift access and can be purchased for $39. Mountain bike park season passes are also available for $229.

Northstar Resort will host both a Downhill Race Series and a Cross-Country Race Series for riders of all ages who like to compete. Race dates, participation fees and additional information can be found online at NorthstarAtTahoe.com.
