NORTHSTAR-AT-TAHOE™ RESORT IMPROVES PARKING, OFFERS MORE TRANSPORTATION OPTIONS

 

TRUCKEE, Calif. – Dec. 11, 2006 – In an effort to improve parking and transportation, and make it more convenient than ever for guests to get to and around Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort, this year a new parking lot, shuttle buses, and a myriad of new transportation methods are available to guests coming to visit and stay at Northstar™ Resort.

 

With the introduction of new night shuttle service to and from Truckee and the North Shore of Lake Tahoe, the complimentary Reno Ski Shuttle, and the Aqua Ski Shuttle, there are a multitude of ways for guests to get to Northstar Resort.

 

PARKING IMPROVEMENTS

In order to better circulate traffic flow on Northstar Drive, Northstar Resort has added a new parking lot, Castle Peak Park & Ride, containing 600 spaces adjacent to the gas station near the entrance of Northstar Drive. This will alleviate traffic congestion by routing a significant number of cars into this new parking area and off of the resort’s main thoroughfare.

 

Shuttle buses run continuously, picking up skiers/riders from the lot and dropping them off at the entrance to the Village at Northstar™, minimizing the walk required to get from the car to the slopes. Northstar Resort’s goal is not to leave a guest waiting more than six minutes for bus pick-up.

 

SHUTTLE SERVICES

Whether in need of a ride to or from the Reno/Tahoe International Airport, around the resort, or to Truckee or the North Shore of Lake Tahoe, Northstar Resort and the surrounding area provide convenient shuttle service to take guests wherever they want to go.

 

Truckee/Tahoe Night Shuttle Service

New this season, night shuttle service will be offered hourly to and from Truckee and the North Shore of Lake Tahoe, servicing Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort. Running from Dec. 14, 2006 through the end of the ski season, the evening shuttle will pick-up and drop off passengers daily at Northstar Resort. This is in addition to the daytime bus transportation offered daily from North Lake Tahoe and Truckee for skiers and riders.

 

Reno Ski Shuttle

The Reno Ski Shuttle is a complimentary shuttle service that runs daily from Dec. 16, 2006 through April 1, 2007, servicing hotel and casino properties in Reno. The shuttle drops guests off at Northstar Resort at 9 a.m., and picks up at 4:45 p.m. daily. For shuttle reservations and information, call 877.274.7366 or contact the hotel concierge.

 

North Lake Tahoe Express

New Airport Shuttle Service offering scheduled VIP Airport service from 3:30 a.m. until midnight to the North Lake Tahoe and Truckee Region to and from the Reno-Tahoe International Airport daily. For reservations or more information, call 866.216.5222.

 

Aqua Ski Shuttle

This winter Northstar Resort will offer South Lake Tahoe lodging guests a unique mode of transportation to the slopes in true Tahoe style—on the world’s only aqua ski shuttle! The new shuttle package includes bus transportation in the morning from South Shore lodging properties to Northstar Resort for a full day of skiing/riding. After a full day on the slopes, guests will board the Tahoe Queen paddle wheeler for the return trip.

 

Certain to be the best après ski party on the lake, guests will groove to live music and enjoy après ski cocktails and appetizer options while taking in views of the Sierra on their ride back to South Shore. This unique Lake Tahoe opportunity will be available every Tuesday and Thursday from January-March.

AIR TRANSPORTATION

To get to Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort by air, guests can fly into the Reno/Tahoe, Sacramento, San Francisco, San Jose, or Oakland airports. The Reno/Tahoe International Airport (RNO) offers more than 80 flights from most major airlines and cities in and out of Reno daily, serviced by eleven airlines.
