On February 25, TransWorld SNOWboarding Magazine will once again host an amateur snowboarding contest at Northstar California as part of the TransWorld SNOWboarding TransAM Series - a six-stop tour hosted by the most progressive park resorts from coast to coast. The 2012 series will no doubt repeat as a melting pot for some of the best up and coming riders in the region.

• STOP 1 - January 7 at Waterville Valley, NH
• STOP 2 - January 21 at Mountain Creek, NJ
• STOP 3 - February 4 at Powder Ridge, MN
• STOP 4 - February 11 at Park City, UT
• STOP 5 - February 25 at Northstar California, CA
• STOP 6 - March 10 at Bear Mountain, CA (FINALS)

 

Schedule of Events

The contest will begin with a Traffic Jam where all registered riders will hike and ride the slopestyle mini-park course together. During the Traffic Jam judges will select 40 riders to advance to the Ultimate Jam, by giving them the coveted t-shirt/bib hybrid. The Ultimate Jam will be three 15-minute jam sessions on each line in the mini-park. Winners will be picked from overall impression in each line. Following the event there will be a post event party and awards in the Village at Northstar.

• 8:00 - 9:30 a.m. Registration/Rider Check-in
• 10:45 a.m. Rider Meeting at Mini Park
• 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Traffic Jam
• 1:00 - 1:45 p.m. Finals
• 2:30 p.m. Awards/Pizza Party

 

Registration

Online registration will open on February 10, 2012 at www.highcascade.com.

For a $10 entry fee, riders will receive a one-year subscription to TransWorld SNOWboarding Magazine. There will be a 100 rider limit on pre-registration and then will start a waiting list and pull people off it on event day if registered riders don't show.

Registration does not include a Northstar ticket. However, participants will be offered a discounted ticket available the morning of the event.

 

What They Are Riding For

The top three guys and girls from each stop automatically qualify for the TransAM finals at Bear Mountain.

RIDE Snowboards is hooking up the overall guy tour champion with automatic qualification and a trip to compete in the 2012 RIDE SHAKEDOWN finals at Snoqualmie, WA. The overall girl tour champion wins a trip to Seattle, WA as a Ride Shakedown VIP to shred, watch the comp, and hit the VIP parties.

One competitor from every TransAM stop will be crowned with the ZUMIEZ Best Trick Award, walking away with a $1,000 Zumiez gift card!
