The 2010 Burton AM Series is a regional amateur snowboarding competition series that will hit 6 resorts across the US this winter season include Northstar at Tahoe™ Resort!  The events are open to all amateur competitors of all ages and will feature men's and women's Slopestyle and Halfpipe competitions.  The first place winners (men and women) in each discipline will receive a wildcard entry into the US Open Snowboarding Championships at Stratton Mountain, Vermont in March 2010. 

 

 

Registration
Interested participants should visit www.Burton.com to register. 

Registration is $10 per event and open to competitors of all ages.  All riders will be required to sign a waiver to participate and if you are under 18, you must have a parent or guardian sign the waiver as well.  If you are under 13, you must have a parent or guardian register you online. 

Registration is on a first come, first serve basis.  You will get an email confirmation informing you of your successful registration.  Confirmed riders must also check-in on site to pick up bibs and other registration materials.  If you fail to register on site during the times listed below, prior to your race, your spot will be forfeited to a waitlisted rider.

Check-in for the Northstar Events will take place at Butterbox located in the Village at Northstar on the Lower Level.  It will take place during the following times:

Friday, February 5, 2010
3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Saturday, February 6, 2010
7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Sunday February 7, 2010
7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

Once all of the spots have been filled, you may sign up for a waitlist.  All waitlisted riders MUST show up IN PERSON at registration between 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. the morning of the competition in order to reconfirm their waitlist status.  In the event that spots become available, at approximately 9:00 a.m. on the morning of the competition, rider's names will be RANDOMLY selected from the waitlist and placed on the confirmed rider start list. 

Online registration for both Northstar events will close at 10:00 p.m. EST on Thursday February 4, 2010.

 

SLOPESTYLE FORMAT & SCHEDULE
Saturday February 6, 2010

Participant Field
Maximum 60 Men
Maximum 30 Women

Qualifiers
Riders will be divided into 3 separate heats.  Riders will take 2 runs each - best score counts.  Ties will be broken by next highest run.  Judges will score each rider on a scale of 1 to 100.  The top 12 men (top 5 from each heat and next 2 highest scores overall across either/both heats) and the top 6 women will advance to the finals. 

Finals
Each rider will take 2 runs - best run counts.  Start list will be seeded from the Qualifier rankings.  Judges will score each rider on a scale of 1 to 100 and then averaged for a total run score. 

Schedule
9:00 a.m.: Practice
10:00 a.m. - 10:15 p.m.: Rider's Meeting at Top of Course
10:15 a.m. - 2:45 p.m.: Qualifying Runs - Heat #1 Men, Heat #2 Men, Heat #3 Women
2:45 p.m. - 3:15 p.m.: Finals - Women, Men, Women, Men
4:00 p.m. - Awards at Burton Super Demo Tour Tent Village

 

HALFPIPE FORMAT & SCHEDULE
Sunday February 7, 2010

Participant Field
Maximum 60 Men
Maximum 30 Women

Qualifiers
Jam session format divided into 3 separate heats.  Best score counts from each jam, with ties broken by next highest run.  Three judges will score each rider on a scale of 1 to 100 and will then be averaged for a total run score.  Top 12 men (top 5 from each heat and next 2 highest overall scores) and 5 women will advance to the finals.

Finals
Each rider will take 2 runs during the finals - best run counts.  Start list will be seeded from the Jam session rankings.  Three judges will score each rider on a scale of 1 to 100 and will then be averaged for a total run score. 

Schedule
9:00 a.m.: Open Practice
10:00 a.m. - 10:15 p.m.: Rider's Meeting at Top of Pipe
10:15 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.: Heat #1 - 15 minute practice and 1 hour jam session
11:30 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.: Heat #2 - 15 minute practice and 1 hour jam session
12:45 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.: Heat #3 - 15 minute practice and 1 hour jam session for women riders
2:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.: Finals Practice
2:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.: Finals - Women, Men, Women, Men
4:00 p.m. - Awards at Burton Super Demo Tour Tent Village

 

Prizes
$7,000 per stop with equal prize money for men and women!

1st Prize: $750.00
2nd Prize: $500.00
3rd Prize: $250.00
Best Trick: $250.00

 

Requirements
All competitors MUST wear a helmet to compete in the 2010 AM Series!

Competitors are responsible for purchasing a lift ticket on event days.  Discounted rates will be offered to registered competitors.
