Join us for our first Introduction to Biathlon Clinic taking place here at Northstar at Tahoe on Friday February 12, 2010.  It will be a wonderful way to enter the sport and is sure to give you a solid foundation to build on in the future. 

The clinic will be led by Glenn Jobe, who has been involved with Biathlons for many years.  He was a team member of the US Biathlon Wold Championship Team in 1978 and 1979, a US Biathlon Olympic Team member at Lake Placid in 1980 and won the 1981 National Biathlon 20km.  He has been a Far West junior cross-country ski coach from 1977 through present day and was inducted into the UNR Athletic Hall of Fame in 2002. 

The clinic is limited to 12 participants to keep the teacher:student ratio no greater than 1:4 for an ideal learning environment.

Here is a brief overview of what you'll learn during this great clinic:

9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in a Village Conference Room
* Short history of Biathlon
* Rifle and range safety
* Prone and standing positions
* Dry firing
10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
* Participants will move to the Cross-Country Ski, Telemark & Snowshoe Center and will then proceed to the Biathlon Range as a group.  The Biathlon Range is approximately 3km from the Center so participants should bring their cross-country skis or snowshoes.  Otherwise, equipment can be rented at the Cross-Country Ski, Telemark & Snowshoe Center.
11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
* Practice prone and standing positions on the snow
* Do some live firing in the prone and standing positions
*Ski some small loops and practice dry firing with an elevated pulse
* Ski some small loops and practice live firing (participants will not ski with rifles, they'll remain at the Biathlon Range)

The cost to participate in the clinic is $60 which includes instruction and a rifle.  Auburn Ski Club Members can receive a $10 discount with proof of membership. All participants will need to either have a Season Pass or purchase a trail pass prior to the clinic.
